"The herd is right" is an emotion that's been with us since before we left the sea. The rest is just rationalization and modernization. Any invertebrate can defend the consensus. And they do it with the greatest of zeal.

It takes rare vision and spine to press the alternative.

It was interesting to see the prejudices of the naturalists impeding earned benefits and ostracizing their of one of their own with slightly different opinions. That, soon followed by being duped themselves.

I’m not sure what may have been going on within scientific communities in 1996, but there seem to be many parallels to 2020.
